Mastertools.nl is a family business that has specialized in supplying high-quality power tools since 2008. What started as a regional supplier for professionals grew into a successful webshop in 2009. With a personal and flexible approach, Mastertools.nl has become one of the largest online providers of professional power tools. For the next step in their digital growth, they engaged us for strategic advice and a proposal to replace their existing e-commerce platform.

The background
Mastertools.nl was operating on a Shopify Plus platform, for which the contract recently expired. Despite the success of their webshop, they experienced various limitations, particularly regarding B2B functionality, checkout flexibility, and integration capabilities with their existing systems, such as Exact Online.

The solution
We advised Mastertools.nl to migrate their backend to Magento Open Source, combined with a composable and headless frontend based on our Kega Accelerator. The Kega Accelerator is a setup we developed that provides an advanced foundation on the Next.js App Router, featuring 'best-in-class' integrations with Storyblok, Contentful, and Algolia. This allows companies to quickly and efficiently transition to a modern and flexible e-commerce platform.
This approach enables Mastertools.nl to serve both their B2C and B2B customers within a single adaptive environment.
We deployed Alumio as the integration platform, which ensures a flexible connection with existing systems, such as the ERP, as well as future tools. We also implemented a better solution for the search and merchandising system, enabling customers to find the right products faster. This was achieved using Algolia.
Thanks to the deployment of the headless CMS (Content Management System) Storyblok, Mastertools.nl also gains more freedom and efficiency in content management. Furthermore, the checkout was designed to be more flexible, allowing it to be easily adapted to their specific customer groups or processes. With this solution, Mastertools.nl is building a scalable, future-proof e-commerce environment that offers room for further digital growth and optimization—the core of a Composable Commerce strategy.
